The beauty of home education is that it gives a family more time together–time to solidify relationships, to communicate values, and to focus on each child’s individual needs in a consistent and unhurried atmosphere.
We can get too easily bogged down in the academic part of homeschooling, a relatively minor part of the whole, which is to raise competent, caring, literate, happy people.
Education begins at home and I applaud the parents who recognize that they – not someone else – must take responsibility to assure that their children are well educated.
You will not reap the fruit of individuality in your children if you clone their education.
We parents need to have confidence in ourselves, confidence in the graces which God gave us, and confidence from our own life experiences and knowledge. We can know and must demand what is best for our children.
When the atmosphere encourages learning, the learning is inevitable.
GUIDING INDIVIDUALS
To their place of full potential.
Academic Accreditation
At EHSA we enroll our students in the ICCE (UK) School Certificate programme. The ICCE Certificate is internationally recognized with students being accepted by colleges and universities around the world. We feel that external moderation and accreditation provides EHSA with a holistic measure of institutional quality and academic rigor.
Accreditation?
So what is accreditation? Well, it means that when your child receives a transcript or diploma from EHSA that their high school work is more likely to be recognized when applying at universities or when transferring into a normal school. EHSA graduates have received admission and scholarships in the USA and South Africa, where they have excelled in their studies.
Thinking Skills
We guide our students in ICCE coursework that encourages goal directed, reflective, and reasonable thinking. In today’s world, simply gaining knowledge is not enough, students need to learn to use their imagination in order to become capable problem solvers of the future. Our projects are designed to teach them skills such as problem solving, team-working and time management.
Inquiry Based Learning - Cooperative Projects
Most of our projects at EHSA are taken directly from real world examples and goes beyond learning facts and knowledge, encouraging students to discover the processes involved in establishing facts and concepts. In turn, students develop observation, documentation, and critical thinking skills. Exploration during inquiry engages students’ skills across multiple disciplines.
Educational Workshops
In order to complement and enhance what children learn in their normal curriculum, EHSA facilitates inquiry-focused educational workshops. For these workshops we invite qualified experts to assist us as we inject fun and passion into learning, which can include anything from general principles to advanced concepts.
Life Long Learning
The priority of these workshops is to move away from the structure of the textbook and toward an integrated thematic approach that involves the students with practical hands-on activities and examples. Practical activities reveal how skills and concepts learned in textbooks can have authentic connections to students’ lives and the world they live in, creating a lifelong desire for learning.
Extra-Curricular Activities
An advantage of home education is the amount of choice available to parents for extracurricular activities. No longer are your children required to receive instruction in what they love from the school; you can choose only the best for your child. Many of EHSA students are involved in activities where professionals are providing world class instruction. Please feel free to contact us for a comprehensive list of activities and instructors available in Zambia.
Sport Participation
At EHSA we will assist you in facilitating access to team and individual sport for your child. We are continually expanding our list of coaches, teams, and private schools where instruction and participation can be accessed for our students. We have a cordial relationship with the OYDC (Olympic Youth Development Centre – Lusaka), where group or individual coaching in multiple sporting disciplines can be received. Feel free to contact us for assistance.
